SmartLipo Laser Liposuction

Smart Lipo - Length and details of the procedure

Smart Lipo is a technique for eliminating a targeted area of subcutaneous fats that is minimally invasive in its procedure. Smart Lipo is a laser enhanced liposuction procedure that works by targeting and disintegrating the fat cells membranes that it comes in contact with. Smart Lipo's use of a fiber-optic based cannula results in the laser's ability to contact and disintegrate the subcutaneous fats that reside under the skin. The fats cells that have been targeted by the Smart Lipo laser are transformed into a mucus-like substance, which is then further processed by the body's white blood cells. This substance is then further processed by the liver, and is eventually eliminated without notice by the body's natural waste-elimination cycle. As the laser melts the fats, it also coagulates the loose ends of small blood vessels. The use of a compression garment is not obligatory as the area will not bleed a great deal after the laser is removed.

In the Smart Lipo procedure patients will experience fewer incidences of bruising than of the traditional liposuction procedure due to the technological advances of the Smart Lipo procedure. The fiber-optic cannula that is employed creates a smaller hole than that of a traditional liposuction procedure. This is beneficial as it makes it difficult to locate the insertion spot or notice extreme changes to the areas surrounding the insertion spot.

Smart Lipo risks and complications

Smart Lipo claims to be a safer procedure than traditional liposuction due to a reduced amount of bleeding and anesthetic drugs that are utilized.

The Smart Lipo procedure is said to be minimally invasive, and as a result many patients are said to be able to return to work or other functions almost immediately.

During the Smart Lipo procedure, minimal if any pain is experienced due to the localized anesthesia that is utilized. Upon the wearing off of the anesthesia, an individual may feel aches and pains that are said to be similar to those following a long exercise session.

Smart Lipo's Long-term results

The best outcomes are realized in areas that are frequently resistant to diet and exercise.

After the subcutaneous fats are removed the area will under go a healing process and the resulting tissue that occupies the area where subcutaneous fat was removed may appear unchanged or occasionally a tad bit larger.

This process is said to be normal and that the resulting tissues will be fully reconstructed in approximately 3 months following the procedure. The individual should notice the majority of changes becoming visible approximately 2 to 3 months after the performance of a Smart Lipo Procedure.

If further reductions are desired, the procedure can again be re-performed following a 4 month break from the first procedure. A pause is necessary to account for the ongoing healing process of the areas which have undergone the initial procedure.

Smart Lipo - Costs of the procedure

At this time little is known regarding the average cost of a Smart Lipo procedure.

Smart Lipo - Insurance coverage

Because the SmartLipo is considered an elective procedure, insurance usually will not cover the costs of the procedure.
