ArteFill - Permanent wrinkle removal

Dermal fillers are fast becoming popular among those seeking temporary improvements for facial wrinkles and folds. Temporary relief from wrinkles is the key fact as most dermal injections will start to dissolve between 1-2 years after the initial fill. Up until now permanent fillers did not exist. ArteFill aims to change the temporary status of dermal fillers. ArteFill (not ArtFill) is the first and so far only permanent injectable wrinkle filler that has been approved by the FDA. ArteFill promises visible wrinkle diminishing results immediately after the procedure which further improve rather than decrease over time. Before ArteFill many non-surgical procedures were possible but not practical due to the temporary duration of dermal fillers. With the permanent features of ArteFill non-surgical nose jobs, facial sculpting, lip plumping and similar procedures now have permanent results.

How ArteFill works

ArteFill is comprised of an exclusive blend of organic and synthetic compounds purified for cosmetic use. In ArteFill synthetic compounds consisting of polymethymethacrylate are combined with a bovine derived collagen gel to make up a long-lasting dermal filler. Furthermore ArteFill contains lidocaine which helps to minimize discomfort associated with the cosmetic procedure. Traditional dermal fillers such as Radiesse, Restylane and Sculptra are what are known as re-absorbable fillers. Their composition is slowly absorbed into the body and the procedures results diminish over time. ArteFill is not absorbed into the body and therefore its wrinkle improving results are permanent.

ArteFill Procedure Details

Like other dermal fillers ArteFill can be administered in an outpatient setting. ArteFill typically requires one or two treatments to achieve ideal results. For optimal results it is recommended that Artefill be injected in several stages over the course of 1 to 3 months. The Artefill procedure is typically performed in an outpatient capacity often in your doctor's office. Depending on your needs the procedure can take as little as a few minutes.

ArteFill Recovery Time

Those receiving an ArteFill treatment may experience swelling or redness in the treated areas following the procedure. For the vast majority of individuals the swell is temporary. It is recommended that patients avoid sports or activities where contact with the treated areas could be encountered for several days following an ArteFill procedure. As the procedure is an outpatient procedure patients should be able to return to work based upon their physician's recommendation.

ArteFill Results - Duration of procedure

Unlike absorbable dermal fillers ArteFill promises permanent wrinkle fighting results.

Where can ArteFill be used?

At the moment the FDA has only approved ArteFill for use as a facial filler. ArteFill can be used for lip augmentation, non-surgical nose jobs, acne scar filling, nasal fold filling and cheek filling. ArteFill has been used in Brazil and Europe for buttock augmentation. As ArteFill's time on the market increases additional uses may become available.

Is ArteFill safe?

ArteFill has been available outside of the USA for quite some time. ArteFill has passed FDA approval for use in facial areas. Because of ArteFill's permanent results patients will need to have a skin test 28 days before receiving treatment. As each patient has specific and individual needs it is important to test if ArteFill is right for you. Known side effects for ArteFill are limited but the possibility of lumping has been listed.

ArteFill Cost

The price of an ArteFill treatment will depend on your individual needs and amount needed for treatment. It will also vary based on your geographic location. An ArteFill treatment in New York will differ in cost from an ArteFill treatment in Los Angeles. The cost of ArteFill typically runs between $500 and $700 per injection.

Will my insurance cover an ArteFill procedure?

Because an ArteFill injection is considered an elective procedure insurance usually will not cover the procedure.

Do you have any ArteFill before and after photos?
